"Translucence" celebrates watercolour in November.

“Translucence” showcases the work of five watercolourists who have the talent to create magnificent paintings using this notoriously challenging medium. Transparent watercolour can be soft and subtle, but equally strong in its suggestion, which allows the artist great scope when it is used skillfully. Each painter has their own approach and therefore results. James Fearnley’s intriguing layers of wash; Tony Lewis’ mastery of light; John McVeigh-Brown’s rhythmical landscapes; James McKay’s  implied details and Dawn Lewis’ softly mesmerizing scenes. These are artists who respect the possibilities of watercolour and know how to use it to its fullest potential.
