Judith Laws
Acrylics, oils, mixed media Born - Charters Towers, Qld. Resides - Sunshine Coast, Qld. "Looking at a Judith Laws painting is like looking into the fiery heart of Queensland opal". - Kate Collins (Sunday Mail) Judith Laws bases her art on nature, but more as a point of departure into a sensuous world of exuberant and luscious colour. This highly creative artist has emerged as one of our best exponents of contemporary art. While much of her art is based on landscape and her experiences in exotic cultures from Morocco to South America and many places in between, she also has a figurative aspect to other works, but all are expressed with passion and energy. Judith has had over 33 solo exhibitions and more than 40 combined exhibitions in London, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast and many urban and country areas of Australia since 1979. In such a successful career it is difficult to narrow down the highlights, but a few are; the book "Laws" published about her life and work in 2002; commissions in the Parliamentary Offices, Brisbane to the Dubai Resort, Dubai; and work represented in corporate and private collections in Australia, Canada, USA, England, France and Japan. |
