Michele Carnie - Jewellery
Resides - Sunshine Coast Michele Carnie designed and made sterling silver and gemstone jewellery for 6 years in Sussex, UK. She attained a following for her individual designs there, but returned a few years ago to her homeland of Australia to settle in Noosa, as it is the place she loves the most. She is continuing to work with sterling silver and draws her inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement, with nature supplying the greatest range of ideas for her designs. Other pieces are more freeform, as Michele allows them to evolve step by step during the creative process. The variety of gemstones which Michele incorporates into many of her works, shows her love of colour, but also her ability to complement her silver designs with finesse. She uses quality semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls from around the world, with an acute eye for detail. Michele prefers to keep her jewellery to individual, one-off pieces, and each piece is made by her own hand. It is this level of originality and attention to detail, which has gained her a whole new following on this side of the world. However, jewellery-making is only one aspect of her creative abilities. Michele has a solid drawing base and has worked in watercolours and drawing mediums for some years. She is currently enjoying strengthening these skills with pastel classes with a Master Pastellist of the Pastel Society of Australia. |
