Eric Whisson is an extremely gifted artist who has painted professionally for over 25 years. Born in Brisbane in 1933 and continuing to live in Queensland, he portrays landscape from across the country which he has experienced through many travels. Working predominantly in oils and often with a palette knife, he can convey the warm autumnal colours of country Victoria and Tasmania to the wonderful reflections in the wet streets of Paddington on a rainy day.
Eric has been a teacher of art with the Royal Queensland Art Society for many years and has helped a lot of people to achieve success with their art, most notably his sons Colley and Todd.
During this career Eric has won over 50 individual prizes and awards for both his representational and non-representational works. His double nomination and acceptance in 1984 and 1988 for the B.H.P. Awards of Excellence gave him great pleasure to have due recognition in his field. He has been commissioned to produce many artworks including a total of 232 paintings for the Mayfair Crest Hotel in Brisbane in 1983 and a large rainforest creek scene which hangs in the Royal Commonwealth Society in London.
Eric's paintings have been collected both corporately and privately across Australia and can be found in private collections in Germany, Japan, the U.S.A., the U.K., Canada and New Zealand.
