Eddie Wentorf’s journey creating bronze sculptures started 25 years ago after an accident which damaged his left hand. He needed a way to create income as he was not able to return to his former trade. While recovering he was totally bored and started working with clay. He found clay had its limitation as to the fine detail he was looking for.
Having worked all of his life in metal he turned to bronze casting. His first efforts were quite primitive but by observing other sculptures on the web they slowly improved and he was able to sell to some local galleries in Tasmania.
His son David joined him and now runs the Foundry in Woolgoolga NSW. They have complete control over all stages of the bronze foundry process from creating the first sculpture in wax to pouring the molten bronze and finishing.
